Those lying Marxist liberals are working overtime to destroy our American culture by keeping American males from finding a normal female bride outside the United States of America.

Democrat Senator Cantwell and Democrat Rep. Larsen of Washington State, wearing the big smiles behind Pres. Bush, invented the International Marriage Broker's Regulation Act. (IMBRA) and have been trying to peddle it since 2003. Less than a few dozen were interested. See USCIS original instructions - they didn't comply with the law.
So they got ultra liberal Democrat Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, head of the Judiciary, to slip it into the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women's Act of 2005 in the last few weeks before the role call vote on the VAWA. The vote was overwhelming in favor, BUT almost no one knew the IMBRA legislation was included! But liberal Republican Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin did!! And helped!
I believe It's only a matter of time and most of, if not all of, that law will go on the ash heap of "better luck next time you idiots!"
European Connections filed an Civil Action against the Attorney General of the United States of America on March 3, 2006, requesting a temporary restraining order on the IMBRA law. Atlanta, Georgia Federal Judge, Clarence Cooper, held a hearing March 6, 2006.
Judge Cooper ruled in favor of the restraint and set another hearing for March 20, 2006, so that the Attorney Generals office could prepare a response. They failed to show up! Judge Cooper extended the hearing date, leaving it open on his calendar. This simply means the law is restrained until further argument. And since the case was so shoddy, the AG's office must be really digging into the case to find something to argue with!! They really don't have a case because the sleazy instigators lied about most of the reasons for it.
Meanwhile, the Judge agreed with the plaintiff that IMBRA was a violation of the 1st. and 5th. amendments. The real question now is, "Does the government have a compelling interest in the charges brought into the law by Sen. Cantwell and Rep. Larsen?"
In my judgment, IMBRA doesn't have a prayer! Oh, they may make a few things more difficult, like having to inform the ladies of the women's battery laws, but that's as far as it will go, if even that far.
It's instructive to read the Georgia case
as presented by Attorney Ralph Goldberg.
At least read the COMPLAINT and the judge's transcript.
If you want to really get into it and see how Goldberg made his arguments, read the MOTION link in that page or dive into it from here. It's long, but it's a dandy.
